The traditional event of Christmas in the Museums returns, the cultural offer in the Museum System of Rome Capital which, from 21 December 2024 to 8 January 2025, welcomes visitors of all ages, with a rich program of exhibitions and educational activities promoted by Rome Capital, Department of Culture – Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage with the organization of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
Guided tours for everyone in the museums and in the area and workshops for the little ones to discover Rome, the city of the world.
Various activities are planned with translation into Italian Sign Language – LIS by the Department of Social Policies and Health (Personal Services Directorate) with the Segni d’Integrazione Lazio cooperative.
Plus free concerts in the Canonica, Barracco and Bilotti Museums.
During the festive period it is possible to get to know and rediscover the heritage of the permanent collections, enriched by the wonders of the temporary exhibitions hosted, both in the main paid museums
(Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, Museo dell’Ara Pacis, Mercati di Traiano – Museo dei Fori Imperiali, Museo di Roma a Palazzo Braschi, Musei di Villa Torlonia, Museo di Roma in Trastevere, Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Museo Civico di Zoologia)
and in small museums with free entry
(Museo di scultura antica Giovanni Barracco, Museo Carlo Bilotti – Aranciera di Villa Borghese, Museo delle Mura, Museo Napoleonico, Museo Pietro Canonica a Villa Borghese, Museo della Repubblica Romana e della Memoria garibaldina, Museo di Casal de’ pazzi, Villa di Massenzio).

Museum opening hours during holidays:
All Civic Museums are open on 24 and 31 December until 2.00 pm. They remain closed on December 25th.
On January 1st the museums and archaeological areas are open with free admission for everyone at the following times:
- from 11.00 to 20.00 Capitoline Museums, Trajan’s Markets – Museum of the Imperial Forums, Museum of the Ara Pacis, Museum of Rome-Palazzo Braschi, Centrale Montemartini, Museums of Villa Torlonia (except Serra Moresca), Museum of Rome in Trastevere, Civic Museum of Zoology, Gallery of Modern Art;
- from 11.00 to 16.00 Napoleonic Museum, Museum of the Roman Republic and the Memory of Garibaldi, Carlo Bilotti Museum – Orangery of Villa Borghese, Pietro Canonica Museum, Museum of the Walls, Museum of Casal de’ Pazzi, Serra Moresca, Giovanni Barracco Museum of Ancient Sculpture, Villa of Maxentius, Archaeological area of Circus Maximus, Sacred Area of Largo Argentina, Celio archaeological park, Museum of Form Urbis;
- from 9.00 to 16.30 Archaeological Area of the Imperial Forums;
The last entry is allowed one hour before closing time.

Entrance to the Museum System of Rome Capital is always free for MIC Card holders, with the exception of exhibitions for which a reduced ticket is provided:
